Sound Healing
Not everything needs to be worked through with more words.
Private sound healing sessions and scheduled group events in or near Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, for those who need intentional time to slow down and step away from the demands of everyday life.
Sometimes you need a break from trying to figure everything out.
You may spend much of your day thinking, planning, responding, and taking care of what needs to be done. Even when you finally have time to rest, your mind may continue moving from one concern to the next.
A sound healing session gives you a defined period of time in which nothing is being asked of you.
You’ll be invited to get comfortable while the tones and vibrations of singing bowls and other resonant instruments unfold around you. You don’t need to talk, perform, concentrate, or try to create a particular experience.
The purpose isn’t to force a breakthrough or make your mind completely quiet. It is simply to give you space to pause, listen, and notice what happens when you are no longer responsible for doing anything else.
What is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is an intentional, immersive practice in which layers of tone, rhythm, vibration, and silence give your attention somewhere else to rest.
When we intentionally slow down, we create space to hear the parts of ourselves that are often drowned out by the noise, demands, and constant motion of everyday life.
As Tibetan singing bowls and other instruments are played around you, you may notice your breathing become easier, your muscles begin to soften, or your thoughts feel less insistent. Emotions, sensations, or memories may also arise when you are no longer occupied with talking, explaining, or trying to solve anything.
The sounds I choose are not random. I work with frequency, resonance, rhythm, and silence while holding an intention for the session. Some participants describe a release of tension, a subtle energetic shift, or a loosening of thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that have felt firmly held. Others experience deep rest, vivid imagery, emotion, or simply an hour of stillness.
Nothing specific has to happen for the session to be meaningful. I use the word healing not as a promise to cure or treat a condition, but to describe an environment in which your own experience of rest, release, awareness, and reconnection is given room to unfold.
What I Offer
Private 1:1 Sound Healing
A private session offers a personalized experience in a quiet, one-to-one setting.
You’ll rest fully clothed on a massage table while I use a combination of Tibetan singing bowls and other instruments to create an individualized sound experience around you.
Private sessions are available in two lengths:
45-minute session
90-minute session
You don’t need to bring any special equipment. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water.
Private sessions are held at a designated location in or near Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. I am not currently offering sessions in clients’ homes.
After booking, you’ll complete an intake form so that I can learn about any needs, sensitivities, or information relevant to your comfort during the session.Group Sound Healing Events
Group sound healing—sometimes called a sound bath—offers the opportunity to rest within a shared experience while still having your own personal space.
I host scheduled 60-minute events at selected venues in or near Upper Saddle River. The number of available spaces depends on the venue, and advance registration is required.
During a group session, I may use a combination of:
- Gongs
- Hand drums
- Steel tongue drums
- Chimes
- Tibetan singing bowls
- Crystal singing bowls
- Flutes
- Kalimbas
- Rain stick
- Tingsha bells
Or other resonant instruments
The combination of instruments may vary from one event to another.
Most participants lie on a mat during the session. You may sit in a chair if that is more comfortable. If you have mobility concerns or would prefer alternative accommodations, please contact me before registering so we can discuss what you need and what is available at the venue.
These are scheduled events that I organize and host. I am not currently accepting requests for private group gatherings or in-home sessions. What to Expect
There is no single “right” way to experience sound healing. Each session is different, and your response may vary depending on what you are carrying physically, mentally, and emotionally that day.
During Your Session
As the sounds and vibrations build around you, you may notice your breathing begin to slow, your muscles soften, and your thoughts become less insistent. Some people enter a deeply restful, almost dreamlike state, while others remain fully aware of the instruments and sensations around them.
You may experience:
A sense of calm, spaciousness, or deep relaxation
Tingling, warmth, heaviness, or subtle sensations of vibration
Changes in your perception of time
Mental imagery, colors, memories, or creative insights
Emotions arising without an obvious explanation
A feeling of drifting between wakefulness and sleep
Restlessness or difficulty settling at first
Simply the experience of listening, without any noticeable emotional or physical shift
All of these responses are valid. You do not need to quiet your mind, reach a particular state, or make anything happen. Your only task is to get comfortable and allow yourself to receive the experience as it unfolds.
If a sound feels uncomfortable or you need to reposition yourself, sit up, or step away, you may do so at any time.
After Your Session
Some people leave feeling grounded, clear, peaceful, or noticeably lighter. Others feel quiet, emotional, reflective, energized, or ready to sleep. You may notice an immediate shift, a subtle change that becomes clearer later, or no dramatic difference at all.
Because sound healing creates an opportunity to slow down, you may become more aware of thoughts, feelings, or physical sensations that were previously obscured by the pace of everyday life. Give yourself time to notice what arises without needing to interpret or resolve it immediately.
Whenever possible, plan for a gentle transition after your session. Drink a lot of water, move slowly, and leave yourself a little space before returning to a busy schedule. The experience is personal, and its effects may continue to unfold over the hours or days that follow.
